An innocent Rohingya man had to face untimely demise due to the extremely brutal and merciless tortures by the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) in northern Maungdaw Township on Thursday, according to the reliable sources in the region.

“The Border Guard Police from *the station of Ngakura (Nagpura) village arbitrarily arrested Abu Toyyib (son of) Kabir Ahmed hails from Ngasa Kyu village around 3:00 PM on October 13. The reason for his arrest was simply absurd. It was just that he had beards and so, the police took him after a religious scholar.
Accusing him of being a Mosque Imam and having links with *RSO in Bangladesh, the police mercilessly and extremely tortured him in the detention custody. They forcibly plugged off and shaved his beard. Since his health condition had severely deteriorated due to the brutal treatments in the custody, the police sent him to Kyein Chaung (also known as Bawli Bazaar) General Hospital on October 16 afternoon.
However, he passed away around 6:00 PM of the day. His dead body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem. He was buried in the Ngasa Kyu Cemetery before Friday Prayer today. He left his wife and three children behind” said a local Rohingya in the region declining to be identified.
“The Commander of the Border Guard Police threatened the administrator of Ngasa Kyu village and its villagers he would punish all of them if they try to report about the death of Abu Toyyib to the international media or any Rohingya media based abroad.
Since the late September, the Border Guard Police has started to carry out mass arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial killings of innocent Rohingya people and religious scholars in their detentions. In fact, they arrest anyone randomly under false allegations of having links with *RSO” he exclaimed.
